Deep within Old Québec, Myriam Lambert creates a sense of wonderment as our imagination travels to the heart of a refuge. Recordings of excited huskies being harnessed, of their nighttime howls, of a sled gliding over the snow, and the sounds of the forest help us explore memories of a family-run sled dog breeding business. As the seasons change, so do their songs. And through these we hear the words of the kennel owner who recounts his touching history with these canines. In this piece, Lambert demonstrates how “sound is an oral phenomenon,” one that is expressed not only by humans, but also by animals and the land.

Myriam Lambert

Myriam Lambert explores sites of remembrance. Through audio, video, performance, and installation, she creates experiences with the traces of what she finds in various territories. Her work has been presented in Québec, Belgium, France, Switzerland, and in other cities in Europe, Mexico, Ecuador, and Costa Rica, and more specifically, former concentration camps in Argentina, former Costa Rican penitentiaries, and on the Italian front line of World War II. Her work is included in private and public collections in Québec, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Spain.
