With a background in puppetry and theatre, Jiwan Larouche makes hybrid creations that combine animals, plants, and humans. Their interests include the fluidity of identity, body diversity, and the human-nature relationship. Their work has been presented at the Centre Materia, the Musée de la civilisation, the Musée du Bas-Saint-Laurent, and at Diamant. They are the recipient of several prizes in the visual arts, including the Prix Materia (2022), the Prix MMAQ (2022), and the Prix Coup de coeur Télé-Québec (2022). In addition to their art practice, they also do cultural mediation work with seniors and children.

BIOGRAPHIE

Issu.e du monde de la marionnette et du théâtre, Jiwan Larouche développe des créations hybrides où se rencontrent les univers animaux, végétaux et humains. Iel s’intéresse à la fluidité de l’identité, à la diversité des corps ainsi qu’à la relation entre les humains et la nature. Son travail a été présenté au Centre Materia, au Musée de la civilisation, au Musée du Bas-Saint-Laurent et au Diamant. Iel est récipiendaire du prix Materia (2022), du prix MMAQ (2022) et du prix Coup de cœur Télé-Québec (2022). Iel fait aussi de la médiation culturelle avec les aînés et les enfants.
