PRIX PAUL-ÉMILE-BORDUAS
Each summer from June to August, Manifestation internationale d’art de Québec presents, in Québec City, an exhibition of the recipient of the Prix Paul-Émile-Borduas. An annual province-wide award for visual arts, the Prix Paul-Émile-Borduas is the highest distinction given to an individual by the government of Quebec, underscoring outstanding career achievement in the field of visual arts, applied arts, architecture or design.
This important exhibition, presented free of charge, is an exceptional opportunity to discover the work of a major contemporary artist from Québec. Bilingual guided tours, theme-related activities for youth and creative workshops relating to the exhibition are offered on site.
In 2003, Manifestation internationale d’art de Québec became responsible for traveling, within Québec, a yearly exhibition of work by the recipient of the Prix Paul-Émile-Borduas. Since 2000, premier exhibitions of winners had already been mounted under the auspices of the Centre culturel Yvonne L. Bombardier (Fondation J. Armand Bombardier). When the cultural center ended its involvement in 2006, both production and traveling shifted to Manifestation internationale d’art de Québec.
