Jean-Pierre Gauthier 
MONTRÉAL, Canada

Jean-Pierre Gauthierwas born in Matane and lives in Montréal. Active on the contemporary arts scene since the mid-1990s, he pursues an interest in integrating visual art and aural exploration. His kinetic installations refer to disorder, and to what is organic and unpredictable. A recipient of prestigious awards, including the 2004 Sobey Art Award and the 2006 Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Prize, he has shown his work in Europe, Asia and North America. A 2007 to 2009 touring exhibition of his work was organized by the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal. He is represented by the Jack Shainman Gallery in New York City.
